Jesse Richardson

Jesse has lived in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington nearly all his life. Having grown up with an amazing environment, from the native bush to our beautiful harbor, Jesse cares deeply about preserving te taiao for future generations.

Jesse attended Wellington College, where he was the Student Representative on the Board of Trustees, elected by his peers in his final year. As Student Rep., he supported paying all support staff a living wage and gained valuable experience in governance and organisation. He also hosted a climate discussion panel at his school featuring School Strike activists as well as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Minister James Shaw.

Jesse has long been politically engaged, having volunteered for progressive candidates in the 2017 and 2019 elections. He’s running for Parliament as an Independent because no issue is more important to him than the climate and even after all the protesting and organising of the last several years, not a single major party is doing enough on this issue.

This year Jesse is a student at Victoria University, studying Maths and Economics. When he’s not busy running for Parliament or doing his course work, he can be found playing the piano, watching ’90s Disney movies or reading legal thrillers.
